The Ohm is an assisted-braking resistor – adding resistance to a belay system to allow a lighter individual to belay a heavier climber safely. The resistance added by the Ohm is similar to if the belayer had become 25kg heavier.
This second generation makes the Ohm easier to use than ever, introducing a swivel joint to remove the risk of clipping in the wrong direction, as well as a new opening mechanism making it easier to insert and remove the rope.
The Ohm is rated for ropes between 8.9 and 11mm, and requires a belayer weighing a minimum of 40kg.
