The Pinch is Edelrid’s new assisted braking belay device. It operates similar to a GriGri, but with the added benefit of being able to attach directly to your harness, reducing the need for an additional carabiner and keeping the device much closer to your body, enabling more slack to be payed out or taken in at once.
The Pinch has an anti-panic function (which can be disabled) to prevent a climber from being lowered too fast if the handle is pulled right back.
The pinch works with single ropes, between 8.5 and 10.5mm in diameter.
